<p>How to get there</p>

<p>How to get to Laem Ngop and Ko Chang</p>
<p>       From Bangkok, take a 5-hour trip from the Easterm Bus Terminal to Trat and continue by a minibus a minibus to Laem Ngop, some 17 kilometers from the provincial city. The minibus fare is Bt 10 each. A tourist center, restaurants, and guest houses at Bt 100-300 per night can be found at Laem Ngop.<br />
       From the pier at Leam Ngop, there is a daily boat service to Ko Chang where Mu Ko Chang National Park&#8217;s office is located. The boa leaves Laem Ngop at 13.00 hours and arrives Ko Chang 45 minutes later.<br />
       Boats for hire are also available from Laem Ngop to any islands of the group. The cost ranges between Bt 1,500-3,000 a day depending on the distance. The high season falls on December-March while between May, to October, monsoons pose a threat to boat trips.  </p>
<p>Attractions and Places of Interest</p>
<p>      Namtok Khao Salat Dai is about 32 kilometers from town on Chintakanon (Saen Tung-Bo Rai) road. It has dense wood and good place for relaxation.                                       .</p>
<p>      Wat Buppharam (Wat Plai Klong) is 2 kms. from town the late Ayutthaya Period. This temple is noted for relics of the Buddha, Buddha images as well as praying Hall. Wooden Vihara, Bell Tower and small typical monk&#8217;s quarters (Kuthi).                                                 .</p>
<p>      Wat Maung Kao Saen Tum situated in Tambon Pranitabout 38 kilometers from Amphoe Khao Saming.It is famed for its dark brown stones weghing 10-100 kilograms. They are varied in shape and produce deep resonant sounds when being knocked.                               .</p>
<p>      Hat Banchum is about 58 kms. before Khlong Yai, take a right turn and proceed for 5 kms. It has white sandy beach with clean water. Bungalows are available at the beach.</p>
<p>      Gem Markets is the district of Bo Rai and khao saming have been developed as the region&#8217;s major gem mining industry, specially Bo rai is noted for being the site of the world-famous &#8220;Tab Tim Siam&#8221; or King Ruby. The gem market of Bo Rai at Hua Tung Market takes place between 7.00-10.00 A.M. and Kholong Yo Mardet fram 1.00-3.00 P.M. Other markets such as Nong Bon Intersection, Ban Sa Yai Market, Ban Nonsi and Ban Ta Ngam open whole day long.                                   .                                   .</p>
<p>       Ban Hat Lek is located 95 kilometers from Trat at the end of Highway 318. Ban Hat Lek is a small village and the jumping-off point for boarding boats to Ko Kong, a border province of Cambodia.</p>
<p>      Laem Ngop (cape) is about 17 kilometers from town on Highway No.3148.From the pier located at the cape&#8217;s end, large vessels can be hired to explore the many nearby isles. Many local preserved food items can also be bought there including shrimp paste, fish sauce and native widebrim hats.                                                  .</p>
<p>      Mu Ko Chang National Park consisting of 52 isles, Ko Chang is the most important and biggest island (second only to Phuket). It is a peaceful and tranquil seaside destination. Most magnificent beaches are on the island&#8217;s western coast such as Hat Khlong Son, Hat Sai Khao, Hat Khlong Phrao and Hat Bang Bao, There is a big waterfall called Than Mayom which is only 1 Km. from the island&#8217;s boat pier. <p>       Other interesting islands are Ko Chang Noi, Ko Mai Si Yai, Ko Rang and Ko Ngam Ko Lao Ya is in Ko Chang group off Ao Salak Phet (bay), There are also bungalows on Ko Lao Ya, congact Laoys Resort Tel. 3900111 for reservation. It has white sand beach, very clean and clear water, some beautiful coral and fish. The island is surrounded by Ko Wai, Ko Mai Si, Ko Ngam and Ko Khum, There is accommodation on Ko Ngam. <p>      Ko Rang group are within the bird nest concession. Attractions include underwater rock formation, coral and fish.                             .</p>
<p>      Ko Wai Resplendent with tranquil beaches, tropical flora and fantastic corals. It is one of the most beautiful islands in Ko Chang Group. Bungalows are available.</p>
<p>       4 hours or so from Laem Ngop is Ko Kut, where Namtok Than Sanuk is located. The name Than Sanuk, meaning the Stream of Fun, was graciously given by King Rama VI in 1911. Bungalow is available, Tel. 2337276</p>
<p>       Ko Kradat is small isle about 2 hours by boat from Laem Ngop. It is blessed with delightful and beautiful sceneries, ideal for relaxation and swimming Contact Tel. 368-2634, (calling after 7.00 P.M.)</p>

       Sra Kaeo is a newly estrablished province upgraded from Amphoe Sra Kaeo of Prachin Buri Province in 1993. Sra Kaeo is an eastern boundary province, located 220 kilometers from Bangkok. It is administratively divided into 6 Amphoe: Muang, Watthana Nakhon, Aranya Prathet, Ta Phraya, Wang Nam Yen, and Khlong Hat.</p>
<p> Attractions and Places of Interest</p>
<p>        Sra Kaeo, Sra Khwan are located 1.5 kilometers from town. The water in both ponds is regarded as sacred water as it has been used as a part of the water for the coronation ceremony.</p>
<p>       Pang Sida National Park was established though the announcement in the Government Gazette as a National Park on February 24, 1982 occupying an appoximate area of 844 square kilometers or 527,500 rai. To access the park, one can travel from Sra Kaeo Market through a branch road for a distance of 27 kilometers. Tourist attractions within the national park include two beautiful waterfall; Nam Tok Pang Sida and Nam Tok Khwae Makha, 700 meters and 3 kilometers away from the park office respectively.</p>

<p>      Aranya Prathet is a district on the Thai-Cambodian border, 70 kilometers away from Sa Kaeo, this border town is a marketplace where products from Cambodia are put on sale at Ban Khlong Luk, a village 6 kilometers a way from the district.</p>

BackGround<br />
Rayong is located in the east coast of Thailand on the northern shoreline of the Gulf of Thailand, some 185 kilometres from Bangkok.<br />
Rayong has an extensive coastline stretching for approximately 100 kilometres, is some 3,552 square kilometres in area, and is divided into 6 administrative districts. To the north and west it is bordered by the province of Chonburi, east by Chanthaburi Province and south by the Gulf of Thailand. The total population of the province is about 430,000 persons.<br />
In general the geography of Rayong is marked by a series of mountains interspersed by flat plains and large tracts of land under forest, rubber and fruit plantations. Offshore there are nsany islands which are well-known by the tourists, such as Ko Samct and Ko Man.<br />
Rayong was mentioned in Thai history during the late Ayutthaya period, when the fortner capital was razed to the ground by invading Burmese. At this tinge Phraya Tak, later to become King Taksin of Thonburi, lcd a band of patriots and broke out through the cordon of besieging troops who had surrounded the capital. He then tnadc his way towards the cast, stopping in Rayong to build up his navy before proceeding on to Chantaburi. Because of his courage and bravery, the soldiers and local population anointed him as &#8220;King&#8221; in Rayong. Once he had built up sufficient troop strength, Phaya Taksin returned to Ayutthaya and routed the Burmese and set up a new capital in Thonburi.<br />
Rayong now is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty. It has a well deserved peputation for producing seafood products such as shrimp paste, fish sauce and dried seafoods , and tropical fruits of which Rambutan, Mangosteen and Durian are the most famous.<br />
The climate is tropical , generally warm and humid with abundant rainfall. Average temperature is around 28 C. The best months are November through February.</p>
<p>How to get there</p>
<p>By Bus<br />
Rayong is connected by regular bus services with Bangkok and other towns and provinces such as Pattaya, Chonburi, Ch;intkiaLiuri, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Nong Khai, Surin and Ubon Ratchathani.<br />
Aircondittioned and regular buses leave Bangkok to Rayong from the Eastern Bus Terminal on Sukhumvit Road, Soi Ekamai, (63), Tel: 3914900 (air) and Tel: 3912504 (non-air). Airconditioned buses leave Bangkok every 30-40 minutes from 05.00 hrs. until 22.00 hrs. One way fare is 85 baht. Non-airconditioned buses leave Bangkok every 30 minutes from 04.30 hrs. until 20.00 hrs. One way fare is 47 baht. The trip takes about 3 hours.<br />
Airconditioned buses leave Bangkok for Ban Phe every 1 hour from 07.00 hrs. until 20.30 hrs. and non-airconditioned buses every 1 hour from 05.15 hrs. until 18.30 hrs. One way fare is 90 baht for airconditioned bus and 50 baht for non-airconditioned bus.<br />

<p>Local Transportation<br />
Public urban transportation within Rayong is in the form of minibuses. Local buses leave the Rayong Bus Terminal at the Rayong Trade Centre for various destinations throughout the day. Fares are about 5-15 baht, depending on the distances.</p>
<p>Boat to Ko Samet<br />
Ko Samct can be rcachcd by boat from Ban Phc. Boats leave Ban Phe for Ko Samet through the day from 06.00 hrs. until 17.00 hrs. Fare is 30 baht for one wryly trip. Thc trip takes about 40 minutes.</p>

<p>CITY ATTRACTIONS</p>
<p>The King Taksin Shrine<br />
The shrine is located at Wat Lum Mahachai Chumpon which commemorates King Taksin the Great&#8217;s brief sojourn in Rayong. In front of the shrine is a large tree of the gcnusParkia, where, according to local legend, his elephant was believed stabled. It is highly revered by people, particularly those of Chinese ancestry, and attracts large crowds during Chinese New Year celebrations</p>
<p>Wat Pa Pradu<br />
This temple was constructed during the Ayutthaya period. Enshrined in the temple is a large reclining Buddha, measuring 11.95 metres long by 3.60 metres high. This differs from other similar images in that it reclines on its left side.</p>
<p>City Pillar Shrine<br />
Located in Lak Muang Road. Originally it was made from wood, but was later restored, using mortar, as a Chinese-style pavilion.</p>
<p>Phra Chedi Klang Nam<br />
The Chedi (Pagoda) is located about 2 kilometres from the town centre and is sited on an islet at the mouth of the Rayong River. The Chedi, stands about 10 metres high, and is an ancient structure, though there is no evidence of when it was built and by whom. An annual celebration is held during the twelfth lunar month (November) featuring exciting boat races.</p>
<p>Sri Muang Park<br />
The park is located in the centre of town behind the city hall. Thc most prominent feature is a Buddhist shrine called Ho Phra Phut Tha Ang Khee Rot which is built over an artificial lake, and in traditional Thai architectural style.</p>
<p>OUT-OF-CITY ATTRACTIONS</p>
<p>Sai Thong Beach<br />
This peaceful secluded settings&#8217; h;ts, as the name irnplics, a fine sandy beach. Along the beachfront there are bungalows for rent as well;is a restaurant serving fresh seafood. To reach Hat Sai Thong drive about 12 kilomctres along Highway 3 in the direction of Sattahip and turn off between kilometrc posts 207-208 opposite the Maptaphut Market. Approximately 3.5 km&#8217; along this road is the beach.</p>
<p>Ko Saket<br />
A small island about 10 minutes journey from Sai Thong Beach. The watc:r around the island is clear and allows a fascinating view of underwater coral formations. There are bungalows for rent on the island.</p>
<p>Payoon and Pala Beach<br />
Located in Ban Chang District about 33 and 36 kilometres respectively from Rayong town, both beaches are connected, peaceful and eminently suitable for swimming. Here visitors have choice of accommodation, from a luxury hotel to economy bungalows.</p>
<p>Dok Krai Reservior<br />
Located in Pluak Daeng District, 3S kilometres from Rayong town. This is the centre of development projects under he advice of H. M. King Bhumipol Adulyadej on agriculture, fisery, irrigation, land and farm animals. The rcscrvoir covers 20,000 ais of land, is suroundcd by natural beauty ideal for relaxing, camping and educational tours.</p>
<p>Mac Ramphung Beach<br />
The beach, some 10 kilometres long, is located between Ban Tapong and Ban Kon Aow, l l kilometres from town, and sited within the Khao Lacm Yah Nature Reserve. This is a particularly beautiful s~t with a headland forming a magnificent backdrop to a crescent shaped bay with broad sandy beaches which are ideal for swimming.</p>
<p>Ban Kon Aow<br />
This is a typical fishing village, some 22 kilometres from town, which is dominated by a temple with seats atop a hill overlooking the shoreline. The area is subject to wind and sea erosion. The palm trees appear to bc standing on sand pedestals, which appear to bc held together only by the roots of the trees.</p>
<p>The Sopha Botanical Gardens<br />
These possess one of the greatest varietics of trees and plants in Thailand. Located on the Phe road, Muang district. Rayong, 17 kilometres from town, the Gardens are only 3 kilometres from the ferry to Samet island. In the Gardens, one aces also a Thai Sala and a group of three classical Thai houses, each of which is more than a hundred years old. The houses are completely furnished and have utensils traditionally used by the Thai people. There are also a number of antique objects and other oh jets d&#8217;arton display in the houses.</p>
<p>Khao Laem Ya &#8212; Ko Samet Group National Park<br />
In 1981 the area known as Khao Laem Yah and the island of Ko Samet was designated as a nature reserve. It is an area of great natural beauty which is enhanced by the tranquility of the surroundings.<br />
Khao Laem Yah is located about 6.4 kms from the fishing village of Ban Phc. Ko Samet , on which Sunthorn Phu, Thailand&#8217;s greatest poet based his most famous work, the story of Pra Apaimance,lies about 40 minute; bost journey offshore The park also covers Mae Ramphung Beach, Ban Kon Aow and some islands near Ko Samet such as Ko Kudee, Ko Kruai, Ko Khangkhao and Ko Platin.</p>
<p>Ban Phe<br />
Ban Phc, 22 kilomctres from town, is a busy fishing port and the provincial centre of local marine produce. The port is characterised by narrow streets of two storey timber houses, and has become a stopping off point for tourists en route to the island of Ko Samet.<br />
Boats leave regularly for the island from the somewhat ancient looking pier. Shops in the main street stock a wide variety of marine produce and many souvenirs and trinkets fashioned from shells of different shades and sizes.</p>
<p>Ko Samet or Ko Kaew Phitsadan<br />
Well-known attractions include beautiful beaches with charming white sand, strange-shaped rocks, suitable relaxation, water skiing, exploring the coral reefs beneath the sea. Ko Samet is located some 6.5 kilometres from Ban Phe. There are boat services available all day and many kinds of accommodation there.</p>
<p>Ko Kudi<br />
It lies approximately 6 kilometres offshore. Besides Ko Kudee there are two smaller islands, one is Ko Khangkhao and another is Ko Rusee Cave. All three islands lie a little to the east of Ko Samct, which are ideal for swimming and camping on.</p>
<p>Suan Son Park<br />
It is 1 kilometre from Ban Phe and also known as the Casuarina (pine) gardens. These splendid trees line both verges of the road for a distance of 4 kilomctrcs. It is a popular picnic place with shady areas.</p>
<p>Wang Kaew<br />
This is agreeably one of the most picturcsquc part of the East coast and used to be the inost famous tourist spot. Wang Kaew is a beautifully landscaped headland with a fine beach<br />
,ind;iccommodation available in cottages and bungalows. It is 38 kilomctres from town.</p>
<p>Laem Mae Phim<br />
At km 26 on the coastal road between Ban Phc and Klaeng, 48 kilometres from town, is Litem Mae Phim. This popular beach attracts Thai tourists. There are many bungalows for rent at the site and along the roadside there are vendors selling a wide range of produce, such as fruits, coconuts, fried squid and skewered oysters. Boats can bc hired to visit the nearby Ko Man island group.</p>
<p>Man Islands<br />
Lying off the coast near Kram is the Ko Man island group which consists of three islands, nainely Ko Man Nai, Ko Mun Klang and Ko Man Nok which mean inner, middle and outer Man islands. These islands are located about 5 kilometres off Laem Mae Phim and take about 50 minutes to reach by boat. The cost is about 500 baht per round trip. The islands are worthwhile exploring, each one having fine sandy beaches which offer secluded sports for sunbathing or swimming. Accommodation is available on the islands.</p>
<p>The Statue of Sunthorn Phu<br />
Being further down the beautiful road going towards Klaeng district, S3 kilometres from town,the great pact of the Rattanakosin Era has been designated by UNESCO as an eminent classical poet. Thc statue is located in the village of Ban Krum, the birthplace of Sunthorn Phu&#8217;s father. There is a well-kept memorial park at the house site. A statue of the poet in a seated position is placed on a hilllock overlooking an ornamental pond. Characters from his most famous work can be seen below him. His beloved hero, Phra Aphaimanec, is playing a flute at the foot of the hill. The graceful mermaid rests on a rock in the pond as a giant ogress rises from the water.</p>
<p>Wat Saranat Thammaram<br />
This temple is located at the market in Klaeng Town and was constructed in 1945. This very imposing structure boasts one of the most beautiful Ubosots in the East (a glass wall). Replicas of many well-known Buddhist chedis are erected around the compound.</p>
<p>Somdet krommaluang Chumphon Shrine<br />
Near the mouth of the River Prasair in the district of Klaeng is the Somdet Krommaluang Chumphon shrine, which honours the &#8216;Father of the Royal Thai Navy&#8221;. To reach the site turn off Sukhumvit Highway at km. 278 and travel a distance of 9 km&#8217;.</p>
<p>The Khao Chamao &#8212; khao Wong National Park<br />
This is about 17 kilomctres off the main highway at km. 274, 76 kilometres from Rayong and abounds with various types of trees and plants, as well as species highly valued as decorative plants. The Khao Chamao waterfall has eight levels. It is not too difficult to reach the top.</p>

       Prachin Buri is an eastern boundary province located some 134 kilometers from Bangkok. It occupies an area of 11,957.5 square kilometers and is administratively divided into 13 Amphoes and one King Amphoe, the are : Muang, Ban Sang, Prachantakham, Khok Pip, Si Maha Phot, Kabin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Watthana Nakhon, Aranyaprathet, Ta Phraya, Na Di, Wang Nam Yen, and Khlong Hat</p>
<p> Attractions and Places of Interest</p>
<p>        King Naresuan The Great Shrine This shrine at the intersection where the road leads to Prachin Buri township area, near Chakkrapongse Camp, houses a standing statue of King Naresuan. The background relating to the construction of the shrine is that King Naresuan once led his army through the Prachin Buri area to Lawaek Town and slaughtered the ruler, Nak Phrasattha, for the Pathom Kam ceremony.                                         .</p>
<p>       Wat Phra Si Maha Pho is an important monastery located in the vicinity of Amphoe Khok Pip, 22 kilometers from Prachin Buri township. In the compound of this monastery lies the largest and oldest Bhodi tree in the country. The seedling stock of this Bhodi tree was brought over from Buddha Gaya, India. There are various Buddha images of different attitudes enshrined around the trunk.</p>
<p>       Royal Handwriting Monument is the monument, in the play ground of Lai Phrahat School, Amphoe Si Maha Pho, is a stone slab inscribed with the royal handwriting of King Chulachomklao who made a visit in 1908. It is now regarded as an important place of worship in Prachin Buri.</p>
<p>       Wat Kaeo Phichit is very old important monastery having an unknown date of construction is located on the bank of Bang Pakong River in the vicinity of the township. The unusual characteristic of this monastery is the combination between the Greek and Thai arts, and the mural paintings inside the Ubosot are very beautiful.</p>
<p>       Khao Ito Waterfall is 12 kilometers from the township by way of the road leading to the three-way intersection at the main highway; after making a right turn, it is two kilometers to the waterfall. This is a famous natural tourist attraction of Prachin Buri comprising of a main strem that passes through rapids at many levels. However, there is water only during the rainy season and at the beginning of the cool season.</p>
<p>       Huai Kasian Waterfall is the branch road that leads to this fall is located at Ban Khon Khwang, Tambon Dong Khilek, at Km. 166 or 15 kilometers from the Prachin Buri township via a jouney of four kilometers through a branching road. In the area of this waterfall one can view beautiful mountainous and jungle scenery.</p>
<p>       Saladdai Rapid is big rapid in Khlong Prachantakham is located 30 kilometers from the township. It takes one hour going by boat to this rapid, locally called by Prachantakham inhabitants &#8220;Takhraw Waterfall&#8221;.</p>
<p>       Sa Kaeo Sa Khwan These two ponds are located in the vicinity of Amphoe Sa Kaeo the water in both ponds is regarded as sacred water as it has been used as a part of the water for the coronation ceremony.</p>
<p>       Thap Lan National Park is in the vicinity of Amphoe Na Di on Highway No.304, about 30 kilometers beyond the Kabin Buri Intersection. It was established as a National Park on December 23, 1981, occupying an approximate area of 2,240 square kilometers or 1,400,000 rai. The plants mostly found are of the palm family.</p>
<p>       Prachin Buri National Museum is located 200 m. southeast of the City Hall, puts on display th eartifacts discovered within Prachin Buri Province and its nearby area. Also exhibited are ancient sculptures of very style and period with an aim to educate the visitors on Thai art history. Underwater archaeology in the Gulf of Thailand as well as artifacts found off the coast of Amphoe Sattahip, Chon Buri Province are also on exhibition.</p>
<p>        Pang Sida National Park was established through the announcement in the Government Gazette as a National Park on February 24, 1982 occupying an approximate area of 844 square kilometers or 527,000 rai. To access the park, one can travel from Amphoe Sa Kaeo Market though a branch road on the left for a distance of 27 kilometers.</p>

       Less than one hundred kilometres from Bangkok on the excellent Bang Na-Trat Highway, Chonburi is not only a well-known seaside destination, it is also major agricultural and industry producer, with extensive sugar-cane, tapico and coconut plantations, shallow and deep water fishery, as well as manufacturing plants. <p>How to get there (Chonburi)</p>
<p>       There are several buses both air and non air-conditioned leaving from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai), Sukhumvit Road.<br />
       Non-airconditioned buses leave every 15 minutes starting from 05.30-20.50 hrs. Fare is 23 baht. (Tel.391-2504)<br />

<p>       Sam Muk Hill is situated mid-way between Ang Sira and the Bangsaen Beach. The Chao Mae Sam Muk Shrine a top the hill is widely revered by the local people.                            .</p>
<p>       The well-known beach, Hat Bangsan is only 10 kilonetres from Chonburi on a right-turn at km. 104. <p>       Nong Mon is the central market one kiloneter further on from the entrance to Bangsaen. Here can be found all types of fresh and dried sea food, local sweets and fruits (both fresh and preserved) as well as fine rattan wares from nearby Amphoe Pl anat Ni khom</p>
<p>       A left turn almost right opposite the Nong Mon market place leads to the 18-hole Bangphra Golf International Co.,Ltd. which is about 7 kilometers further on.        TheKhao Khieo Open Zoo is about 11 kilometers further from Bangphra. Operated by the Dusit Zoological Organization, it coves an areas of some 1,200 acres, with more than 50 spiecies of wild life roaming freely in its compound.                             .<br />
       Nam Tok Chan Ta Then located 15 kms.off Sukhumvit Rd. at Km. 110 in the same direction of Khao Khieo Open Zoo. The fall is in the wild life Conversation area and is very beautiful shorty after the rainy season, enables the swimming and liesurely walking possible. Placid surrounding nature added the area even more attractive and ideal for relaxation.</p>
<p>       Siracha is a seaside district 24 kilometers from town.It used to be one the most popular resorts and still attracts considerable number of tourists who make frequent stops to buy sea food and fresh-fruits, particularly pineapples.                     .</p>
<p>       About 12 Kilometers off the siricha shore is Ko Sichang a substantial island with peaceful atmosphere and fresh, clean air. The only transports available are motorized tricycles as the ring-road around the island a little over one meter wide. The ma jor structure ashore is an extensive former palace built by King Rama V used for recuperation. Two temples were also constructed during his reign one of which, Wat Asdang Nimitr, has a chapel and pagoda in European archietectural style. A chinese pavillion, with dragon and peacock design, is also worth visiting. Nearby is The Chakrapong which is a chimney-like access to the top of the hill affording a grand view of the island. On the otherside is a beach called exposed to the strong winds of t he Westerly causing them to rub against one another until they become smooth and round.<br />
       As places of interest are somewhere far from one another, it is advisable to hire a tricycle from the pier for the tour. which should not take more than one hour.<br />
       Ferry services is operated from Siracha (Ko Loi pier and Tha Charin pier) at 25 baht per person beginning fron 07.00 hrs.Last return trip from Ko Sichang is at 15.00 hrs.</p>

<p>       Chonburi Buffalo Races is held during October every year.         Commonly called Muang Chan, Chanthaburi is another Eastern province with has played an inportant role in the history of the nation both before and during the Rattanakosin Period. It is wealyhly and rich in natural resources, particularly gems in addition to the plentiful field of tropical fruits including rambutan, durian and mangoteen. Products from the seas are also extensive.It is also blessed with natural beauties and attractions equal to any sister privinces.</p>
<p>       Chanthaburi is about 291 kilometers from Bangkok on Highway 3,or 245 kilometers on Highway 36,taking a right turn at Km. 323.</p>
<p>How to get there</p>
<p>       Both air and non-conditioned buses leaving from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai) Non air-conditioned buses leave every hour, starting from 05.00-16.00 hours.  Fare is 60 Baht (Tel : 3912504)<br />

<p>Attractions and Places of Interest</p>
<p>      King Tak Sin The Great&#8217;s Monument located on Tha Luang Road in Amphoe Muang,opposite to the old governor office. Built in 1893 the building houses a bronze statue of the King.       Si Chan Road also known as gem road,an economic route of the province.  Cut gems are put on sales here. On Fridays, Saturdays, gem trading in Trok Krachang or Krachang lends a very informal atmosphere.</p>
<p>      Underwater Achaeological Museum is the place where antiques where taken from the ancient junks lying in the seabed of the Gulf of Thailand are well stored. Most of the objects are earthenware and Sangaloke china. The office if situated in Khai Noen Wong, a millitary camp built in the reign of King Rama III as a barrier against violating enemies from Vietnam.</p>
<p>        At present,some traces of wall and bulwark are still left to be seen at the camp at the camp site which is on the route to Bsn Tha Chalap,8 kms.away from to the west.</p>
<p>        31 kilometers from Chanthaburi town on Sukhumvit Highway, take a right turn a right turn at Km.347 the Laem Sing , a likeness of a lion all four facing th sea. On the Laem Sing hill are the remains of th etwo forts built during King Rama II&#8217;s reign. The Laem Sing beach itself is not very appealing at present as it serves as th eleading pier for fishing boats.</p>
<p>       Built by th eFrench in the year 112 of the Rattanakosin (Bangkok) Era, located just one kilometer before the present day pier, Khuk Khi Kai was by the buildersas a relention center for Thai Nationals.A rectangular shaped structure built with red b ricks with two rows of ventilating slits and perforated roof,it is said that the roof was used as a chicken coop from waste was dropped onto the prisoners.</p>
<p>      Tuk Daeng or the Red House, was built at the same time as the Khuk Khi Kai(1893). Originally it was the headquarters of the Phikhat Patchamit Fort but the French adapted it into living quarters for officers.</p>
<p>       There are mini buses from municipal market leaving for Laem Sing, Khuk Khi Kai and Tuk Daeng daily.      Oasis Sea World located at Tambon PakNam, Amphoe Laem Sing, 25 kiloneters from the provincal city on Sukhumvit Highway(the Highway 3) with a 15 kilometers right turn towards Laem Sing at kilometers 347. Oasis Sea World covers a total area of more than 68 rai.It is a breeding and conversation station for dolphins from the waters of Chanthaburi.There are 2 breeds of them,namely Humpbacked dolphin and Irrawaddi dolphin. Laem Sadet and Khung Kraben Located in Tambon Khlong Kut Tha Mai.To get there,take Sukhumvit Highway at Km.301, then turn right about 27 Kms. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of beach, cape,mountain and bay.Both turbulent and calm seas can be seenhere at the same time.Nungalows are available.</p>
<p>      Wat Khao Sukim located at Km.305 on Sukhumvit Highway, then turn left about 13 kilometers,is are religious center for meadiation in a tranquil and tree shaded atmosphere.</p>
<p>      Namtok Krathing One of the very beautiful waterful in Khao Khitchakut National Park Tambon Phlaung of Amphoe Makham.It is 30 km.from Chanthaburi. To get there,taking Sukhumvit Road at Km.324 then turn left about 21 kms.Located on top of Kha o khitchakut are imprint of Lord &#8217;s foot,and very beautiful cave &#8220;Tham Ruesi&#8221;(Hermit&#8217;s Cave).In this cave there is a water-well called &#8220;Bo Ya&#8221;(medicine well). The soil in the well has yellow colour.It is believed that the water can be used to cure some di seasue. <p>      Namtok Phliu National Park The 42,000 acre park was establshed in 1975,with numerous species of wild plants and fruits in perfusion.</p>
<p>      Namtok Phliu (Phliu Waterfall) itself boast a stupa which was Rama V in 1876,as well as a pyramid-type structure housing the remains of Queen Sunantha who 2 years earlier had visited Namtok Phliu.Accommadation is available by contacting Nati onal Park Division Tel.576-0529,579-4842. Namtok Phliu is fammous tourist spot.there are mini buses from the municipal market leaving for the waterfall daily.</p>
<p>      Chanthaburi Fruit Fair This is annaul fair is held in May or June to celebrate the abundance of such local fruits as rambutan,durian,jackfruit, and pomelo,then at their peak of succulent ripeness,Besides stalls selling the produce of surrounding orchards, there are cultural shows and exhibitions of provincial handicraft.<br />
